# Ideas

> Collect, organize and develop post ideas on a board before they become posts.

**Create › Ideas** is where content starts. Capture an idea, move it through your own groups, and turn it into a post when it is ready. Open it from the sidebar, or capture an idea from anywhere with **New** → **Idea**.

Every member of the workspace can add and edit ideas.

## Board and Gallery

Switch views with **Board** and **Gallery**.

* **Board** shows one column per group. A new workspace starts with **To Do**, **In Progress** and **Done**. Ideas without a group sit in **Unassigned**.
* **Gallery** shows every idea as a card and loads more as you scroll.

On the board, each column loads 10 ideas at a time as you scroll it. The count on each column is the real total, not just the cards loaded so far.

## Groups

* **New group** adds a column.
* **Rename** or drag a column's handle to reorder it.
* **Delete** removes the group, not its ideas: "Its ideas are not deleted. They move to "Unassigned"."

## Write an idea

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the editor">
    Click **New idea** (or **New** → **Idea**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill it in">
    Give it a title, write the body and add media. Pick a **Group** and **Labels** if you like. An idea needs a title, some text or media to be saved.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save idea**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

In the editor you can also click **Use the AI assistant** to help write the body, or **Create post** to open the [composer](/knowledge-base/publish/composer) with the idea's content.

## Organize ideas

* Drag a card to another place or column.
* From a card's menu: **Duplicate**, **Move to group** or **Delete**.
* **Select** several ideas, then **Delete 3 ideas** (with the number selected) to remove them together.
* Filter by **Groups** (including **Unassigned**) and by **Labels**. While a label filter is on, dragging is disabled: "Clear the label filter to reorder ideas."

Ideas saved from an article in [Feeds](/knowledge-base/create/feeds) with **Save as idea** land here.

## Generate ideas

**Generate ideas** uses AI to suggest ideas from three questions:

1. **What is your business about?**
2. **Who is your audience?**
3. **Anything else? (optional)**: tone, topics to cover or avoid, upcoming launches.

Pick **Use this idea** to keep a suggestion, or **Generate again** for new ones. Ideas are written in your interface language (Settings › [Preferences](/knowledge-base/settings/preferences)).

<Note>
  Self-hosting TryPost? AI features need an AI provider key. See [AI](/self-hosting/ai).
