# Preferences

> Choose your theme, interface language, time zone, time format, start of week and default posting action.

Preferences are personal: they change how TryPost looks and behaves for you, in every workspace, and never for your teammates. Open them from **Settings → Preferences**. Language and theme can also be changed from the menu at the bottom of the sidebar.

Each control saves as soon as you change it. There is no Save button.

## Appearance

Choose **Light**, **Dark** or **System**. **System** follows your device and switches when your device does.

## Language

The language TryPost's interface is shown in. You can also pick a language on the sign-in and sign-up pages; the language you pick when you sign up becomes your interface language. Sixteen languages are available: English, Українська, Português, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Ελληνικά, 日本語, 한국어, 中文, Русский, Türkçe and العربية (shown right to left).

Your language is also used for:

* the emails TryPost sends you ([Notifications](/knowledge-base/settings/notifications));
* new text written by the AI assistant in the composer and by **Generate ideas**. Rewriting an existing text (shorten, rephrase, change tone) keeps that text's own language.

## Time zone

Used to show times, in Insights and emails, and as the default for new channels.

TryPost works with three time zones:

| Zone | What it decides |
| - | - |
| **Channel time zone** | When a channel's posts go out: its posting slots and recurring posts. Set in [Channel settings](/knowledge-base/channels/settings#time-zone). |
| **Your time zone** (this setting) | How times are shown by default, the days of [Insights](/knowledge-base/insights/overview) date ranges, the times in your emails, and the time zone a new channel starts with. |
| **Display time zone** | The **Time zone** picker on the Publish list and calendar. It only changes what you see, and starts on your time zone. |

In the composer, times are shown in the selected channels' time zone when they all share one, and in your time zone otherwise. The zone is labelled next to the time.

## Time format

Choose **12-hour** or **24-hour**. It applies to the calendar, queue, composer, posting slots and emails.

## Start of week

Choose **Sunday** or **Monday**. It sets the first day of the week for the calendar, date pickers and posting schedules, and decides which days count as "this week" for a channel's posting goal and for weekly buckets in Insights.

## Default posting action

The scheduling option the composer starts with when you open it without a time:

| Option | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Next available** | Puts the post in the first free queue slot; gaps between queued posts are filled first. |
| **Prioritize** | Puts the post at the top of the queue. |
| **Now** | Publishes the post right away. |
| **Set date and time** | Starts with a custom time, the next full hour. |

A queue option only applies when every selected channel has posting times; otherwise the composer falls back to another option. You can also make the current option your default from the composer. See [Queue](/knowledge-base/publish/queue) and [Composer](/knowledge-base/publish/composer).

## When you sign up

A new account starts with the time zone, start of week and time format detected in your browser. The default theme is **System**.
