Publish is where your posts live. Open it from the sidebar for All channels, or open one channel in the Channels section and pick Publish to see only that channel. Each post belongs to one channel. When you save a post for several channels in the composer, TryPost creates one post per channel, so each can be edited, moved or deleted on its own.

Tabs

Lists load more posts as you scroll. Published and partially published posts are kept for 2 years, then deleted from TryPost with their media. They stay on the network.
Self-hosting TryPost? Change this with POST_HISTORY_RETENTION_DAYS. See Configuration.
Sent posts show their latest metrics right on the card, with when they were last refreshed (“Refreshed 2 hours ago”). Use the arrows to page through the metrics, and See post insights for everything the network reports. Until the first collection a post shows “Metrics have not been collected yet.” Networks without analytics (LinkedIn, Telegram, Discord, Google Business) show none; see Insights. Sent also shows posts you published directly on the network, outside TryPost. They are marked “This was published directly from Instagram” (or the channel’s network).

List and Calendar

Switch between List and Calendar.
  • The calendar has 3 days, Week and Month views, and a Status filter: All posts, Drafts, Scheduled or Sent.
  • Undated drafts lists drafts without a date.
  • Clicking a time on the calendar opens the composer at that time.
  • Instagram channels have a third view, Grid: an approximation of your profile grid.

Filters and time zone

  • Labels and Channels filter the list and the calendar. Untagged shows posts without labels. See Labels.
  • Time zone sets the zone the page shows times in. It starts as your own time zone from Preferences. Changing it only changes what you see; each channel still publishes on its own schedule.

Post actions

Each post card has buttons and a menu. What you see depends on the post’s status and your permissions: Posts that are Publishing, Published, Partially Published or Failed cannot be edited or deleted. To try again, duplicate the post. Deleting a post never removes it from the network.

Statuses

Why a post failed

A failed post shows Why it failed with a plain reason and the Message from the network. The reasons are:
  • The network didn’t accept the media format, size or length. See Media.
  • The network is limiting how often this channel can post.
  • The channel doesn’t have permission to publish this post.
  • The network rejected the content under its posting rules.
  • The network had an error, was unavailable, or took too long to respond.
  • The channel’s connection expired. Reconnect it in Channel settings.
  • Publishing stopped before the network confirmed the post.
  • We couldn’t publish this post. (the network gave no reason TryPost recognizes)
A post that is longer than the network allows fails with a message such as “This post has 312 characters, but X allows 280.”

Notes

Open Notes from the notes button on a post card to talk with your team about it. Press Enter to send. You can Edit or Delete your own notes; edited notes are marked “edited”, and Load older notes shows earlier ones. A new note emails every workspace member except its author. On a post pending approval, only the approvers and the member who asked get the email. Each person can turn these emails off with New note on a post in Notifications.

Channel page extras

When you open Publish for a single channel, the header also shows:
  • the posting goal, “2/5 posts sent this week”, with Sent, Scheduled and To do. The week follows your start of week in Preferences.
  • Show posting times and Manage posting times for the channel’s queue.

Empty workspace

A workspace without channels shows “Welcome to TryPost 👋” with a button to connect your first channel. See Connecting a channel.
