Google Business Profile

TryPost publishes posts to your Google Business Profile — updates, events and offers that appear on your Business Profile in Google Search and Maps. Each connected channel is one business location.

Connect your account

  1. In the sidebar, open Channels and click Connect channel (or use New > Connect a new channel)
  2. Choose Google Business Profile and click Connect Google Business Profile
  3. Sign in with the Google account that manages your business and allow every permission
  4. On the Select accounts page, tick the locations you want (each card is marked Location) and click Finish connection
Every location of every Business account that login manages is listed, except locations Google does not allow to post. If none is found, TryPost shows No Google Business Profile locations found. Verify your business first. After you finish, TryPost opens the new channel’s Publish page and asks how many times a week you want to post. See Connecting channels for the full flow.
Managing locations from more than one Google login? Use Switch account on the confirmation page: Google asks which account to use again.

Supported content types

Media limits

TryPost converts the image to JPEG (up to 2048 px wide, under 5 MB) before sending it. Edit Media offers the crop presets 4:3 and 1:1. Full catalog: Media.

Post types and options

Text. Up to 1,500 characters, sent as plain text. The text and the image are each optional. Post type (platforms[].meta.topic_type): On the API, the dates go in meta.event (title, start_date, end_date as YYYY-MM-DD, start_time, end_time as HH:MM) and the offer details in meta.offer (coupon_code, redeem_online_url, terms_conditions). The end date must be on or after the start date, and a same-day end time must be after the start time. Button (meta.call_to_action, not available on offers): The Button link (meta.call_to_action.url, http or https, up to 2,048 characters) is required for every button except None and Call now. An event or offer without its title and dates, or a button without its link, cannot be scheduled or published. Language. Google receives the post in the language of the author’s TryPost interface.

Review by Google

Google reviews every post before it goes live. While it does, the post shows In review by Google; TryPost checks every 5 minutes and marks it published once Google puts it live.
  • If Google rejects it, the post fails with Google rejected this post in review. Edit the content or image and try again. A rejected post cannot be retried — duplicate it, fix it and schedule the copy.
  • If Google has not confirmed the post after 24 hours, it fails with Google never confirmed this post. Check your Business Profile and try again.
TryPost cannot edit or delete a post on Google after it is published. Deleting it in TryPost leaves it on your Business Profile.

Insights

Google Business Profile is not included in Insights, and it cannot be a Repurpose destination.

OAuth scopes

https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/business.manage business.manage is the scope TryPost needs to publish.

Self-hosting setup

Google Business Profile uses its own Google OAuth client, separate from the one for YouTube and Google login, so the sensitive business.manage scope never sends your YouTube app back into Google’s review.
  1. In the Google Cloud Console, create or choose a project
  2. Request access to the Business Profile APIs. Google approves it manually and the API quota stays at 0 until it does; check Google’s current eligibility rules (a verified, active Business Profile) before you apply
  3. Enable the My Business Account Management API, the My Business Business Information API and the Google My Business API (v4), which is the only API for Local Posts
  4. Configure the OAuth consent screen with the three scopes listed above
  5. Create OAuth 2.0 credentials with the redirect URL {APP_URL}/accounts/google-business/callback
  6. Add to your .env:
Hide Google Business Profile with GOOGLE_BUSINESS_ENABLED=false. The scheduler must be running for posts to leave In review by Google — see Production setup.
