MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets an AI assistant work in your workspace: create and schedule posts, read metrics, manage ideas, labels and more. Open Settings → MCP to connect one. Every member of the workspace can connect their own assistant. It acts as you, with your permissions: if your posts need approval, posts created through your assistant need approval too. See Members and permissions.

Connect an assistant

1

Copy your TryPost server URL

Click Copy URL. On TryPost Cloud the URL is:
2

Open your AI assistant

  • Claude — open Settings → Connectors, add a custom connector, then paste the URL.
  • ChatGPT — open Settings → Apps & Connectors, create a custom connector, then paste the URL.
Connect Claude and Connect ChatGPT open those settings for you. Under Other apps, TryPost shows the name, URL or config to paste into Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code or any other client that reads an mcpServers config. That snippet names the server TryPost; the setup guides use trypost. If you paste the snippet, use TryPost in commands such as codex mcp login TryPost.
3

Authorize

The first time the assistant connects, your browser opens Authorize assistant name. Pick the Workspace and click Authorize. This connection will only access the selected workspace.
To use the assistant with another workspace, connect it again and pick that workspace. Step-by-step guides for each assistant, and the list of every tool, are in Build with AI.
Self-hosting TryPost? Use {APP_URL}/mcp/trypost as the server URL.

Connected apps

Connected apps lists the assistants you’ve signed in with for this workspace, with when each was Last used. Each person sees only their own. To remove one, click Disconnect and type the app’s name to confirm. This signs the app out of TryPost: it will need to reconnect before it can use MCP again. Removing a member from the workspace also disconnects their apps.

What an assistant can and cannot do

  • It can do what the tools allow, within your permissions in the workspace.
  • TryPost’s AI writing features (the composer’s and idea editor’s AI assistant, Generate ideas, alt text) are not available over MCP; your assistant writes the text itself.
  • On TryPost Cloud, the account needs an active subscription.
  • API keys don’t work for MCP, and MCP connections don’t work for the REST API. For scripts and CI, use API keys.
